Questions about propeller & running gear service
Can a prop come off without hauling the boat?
Usually not. A diver can take most props off at the dock. Shaft, strut, cutlass bearing or seal work is still normally done at a haul-out.
Can a bent or dinged boat prop be repaired?
Often, yes. A prop shop can straighten and rebalance many damaged props. We pull the prop in the water, it goes to F&J, the prop shop we use, and we put it back on when it is done.
