How often should I have my boat hull cleaned?
This depends on many factors, the main two being bottom paint condition and boat location. Most boats are cleaned every 2-3 weeks in the summer, when the water is warm and there's more growth, and every 3-4 weeks in the winter.
Can hull cleaning damage bottom paint?
It can if it is done wrong. Scraping too hard or at the wrong angle can gouge the paint or the gelcoat under it, and ablative paint is made to wear away slowly, so it needs a light hand. That is why every job starts with a look at the paint.
